Weight Control Tips
With daunting statistics of overweight and obesity rampant in the U.S. today, it’s no wonder that many of us obsess on the subject. Some people are so critical of themselves, a pound or two becomes a disaster. Others, faced with significant weight gain, may take the other road and simply give up on a svelte figure.
Weight Control
Both of these perspectives on weight control are counter-productive. If you’d like to shed some pounds, you need to develop some solid weight control strategies. Consistency and perseverance are the name of this game. How many times have you counseled your kids with advice on reaching a goal? “Just do a little bit each day towards achieving your goal. Before you know it, you’re there!” This is good advice, so take a page from your own book when devising your weight control program.
If you only need to lose a few pounds, take stock of the reality. Don’t fret. Cut out that extra pat of butter. Load up on vegetables and fruits. Those pounds will melt off in a week or two.
On the other hand, if you’ve gained 20, 30 or 40 pounds, you need a more aggressive weight control program. Again, don’t fret. In this scenario, you need patience and a consistent weight control program to lose weight over a period of months. When you use a sensible approach, you’re far more likely to keep that weight off for good.
Let’s say your goal is to lose 40 pounds. Give yourself six months. After all, it may have taken years to put it on, so six months is not long to wait for a fabulous figure. This goal amounts to a weight loss of less than 7 pounds per month. If you’ll pardon the expression, it’s a piece of cake!
Take stock of your eating habits. Where do you most often go wrong? Is your nemesis the fast food burger and greasy fries? Are you the one who wolfs down a bag of cookies when you feel stressed? Tackle the worst offenders first. Cutting out fast-food calories can easily result in a loss of a few pounds each month. The cookies are a no-brainer. Go for lean meats, fruits, veggies and low-calorie alternatives to fatty foods. Substituting juice for soda is a boon to any weight control program.
The key factors in any weight control regime are moderation, consistency and a positive attitude. Weigh yourself once a week and log your weight on a calendar. Track your menus. At the end of one month, if you’ve lost 7 pounds, you’ve succeeded. Keep on truckin’. If not, by how much did you miss your goal? Look at your menus for that month. Cut back on portion sizes.
Daily exercise is essential to reaching your goal. Exercise burns calories, so choose your activities accordingly.
Weight control is entirely in your hands. Follow a sensible approach that works for you and you’ll soon be looking good! More on Weight Loss at Searchpenile .
